According to a poll conducted by the Marist Institute for Public Opinion, 83% of New Yorkers believe that campaign contributions influence judicial decisions. Tom Buckel has already advanced innovative reforms to ensure impartiality and independence that are stronger than the current law.

• Mandatory refusal to hear any case before him that involves a campaign contributor to Buckel as Legislator or Judge, for two years.
• Two year disqualification from hearing any case where a party is represented by an attorney who contributed to his judicial campaign.
• Promote independent adjudication of any motion asking Buckel to refer the case to another judge.
